Blackhawk Nightedge Knife

Being a former US Marine Infantryman, I have come to understand the importance of a knife. A knife, as innocuous as it may sound, is more than just a piece of metal with a sharp edge. A knife, when properly utilized, can be better than any multi-tool out there. For many years BLACKHAWK! has been the gold standard for 'after market' military gear. One would be hard pressed to go to any military unit and not find BLACKHAWK! equipment being used. That was the same for myself and my fellow Marines. Their products are durable and practical, which brings me to the knife in question...This blade is obscenely mean looking and rightly so! It's edge is razor sharp (literally) and the back end serrated edge is great for cutting through paracord without fraying the edges. The handle is ergonomically made and grips especially well when wearing gloves. Its weight is perfectly balanced making it feel natural in my hands. On the end of the handle there is a hole perfectly fitted to string cord through to secure it better, because the one drawback is the sheath. The sheath is crap. It does not hold the blade in place, which needless to say, is a MAJOR hinderance. I had to loop paracord across the hilt essentially thickening up the handle so it would stick into the sheath. The sheath has a button fastener that is supposed to hold the blade in place, yet does not put enough tension on the blade to do that simple task, hence the need to thicken it up with paracord. Regardless of how it is mounted on your person or on your gear, that is a must unless you want to go searching around for your blade every time you go from place to place. All in all, this knife is ridiculously cool and although I have the utmost respect for my trusty Ka-Bar, this guy is simply bad-ass. One thing I do get in criticism, especially from Ka-Bar loyalists is the fact that it cannot be used as a bayonet. That said, I have never seen anyone use a bayonet (In the 4 years I was active duty) except to look cool in pictures. Another drawback is the price, but like most things BLACKHAWK! there really is no way of getting around that aspect. The adage of 'you get what you pay for' does ring true. Hopefully, they can fix the sheath, because that is the one thing not allowing this knife to be perfect.

this is an awesome knife my only complaint would be the scabboard that blackhawk sends with the knife. it seems cheap and it won't hold the knife securely to save your life. it easily falls out even with the straps in place. you would think they would have put a scabboard that actually fits and holds the knife.
